Man Pleads Guilty To Series Of Assaults In Ennis

A 25 year old man has pleaded guilty to subjecting four people to assaults, including a 73 year old man, over a six minute spell in Ennis Town Centre last April.

At Ennis Circuit Court, Pavel Kratochvil formerly of Ard Caoin, Gort Rd, Ennis entered a plea of ‘guilty’ concerning the assaults on April 1st last year.

Mr Kratochvil has been in custody since his arrest one year ago, and the case has been delayed concerning issues surrounding his fitness to plead under Section 4 of the Criminal Law Insanity Act 2006.

However, Mr Kratochvil pleaded guilty to the four offences today.  They occured in a four to six minutes spell at around 6pm on April 1st last year.

Mr Kratochvil pleaded guilty to assaulting causing harm to a 59 year old customer in the upstairs of Supermac’s in Ennis while the alleged victim was eating his meal on April 1st 2019.

Mr Kratochvil was also charged with assault causing harm to a second alleged injury party as he made his way in the direction of the Temple Gate hotel after exiting Supermacs.

Mr Kratochvil is also charged with assault causing harm to a 73 year old man and assault to his wife as the couple got out of their car at the Temple Gate car park.

Judge Gerard Keys further remanded Mr Kratochvil in custody to re-appear before Ennis Circuit Court on June 12th.
