M18 Re-Opens After Multi-Vehicle Crash

The M18 motorway has re-opened following a multi-vehicle accident this morning.

Seven vehicles had been involved in the crash which occurred on the Ennis-bound section of the route one mile north of the Clare Inn at around 11:15

There had been reports of hail showers in the area at the time, and Gardaí warned of icy conditions.

The Northbound carriageway was closed for almost two hours and seven units of the fire service from Shannon and Ennis have attended the scene, along with Gardaí and ambulance personnel.

The road re-opened at lunchtime.

It's understood that there were no serious injuries.
