Limerick Councillors Vote Down Controversial South East Clare Road

The proposed route for a controversial South East Clare Road road has been voted down by Limerick city and county council. 

Councillors dismissed the proposal to amend the Local Development Plan to incorporate the Limerick Northern Distributor Road by 26 votes to 3.

The decision to reject the route followed a marathon debate in the Council Chamber where concerns were raised about flooding and traffic flow.
