Howard Criticises Fitzgerald For Blocking Mandatory Maternity Inquiries

An Ennis Fine Gael Councillor is criticisng the Justice Minister for blocking legislation to make it mandatory to hold an inquest into maternal deaths.

Campaigners have been calling for the Coroner’s Bill to be amended to ensure all deaths during childbirth are investigated.

The issue was due to be debated by the Justice and Equality Committee on Wednesday but a letter was issued at the eleventh hour to say this would not go ahead.
