119 new dwellings were completed here between April and June of this year.

65 of those were one-off homes, 50 are in estates or part of multi-property developments and there were four new apartments built as well.

The total figure is the highest recorded in Clare in any three-month period, dating back to 2011 from when records are available.

The previous high was just 85.

While there was much more in the way of building activity during the economic boom of the last decade, this is the strongest sign yet of a welcome upturn in the county’s construction sector.

Seven of the 119 new homes are in areas associated with the Kilrush Eircode, 58 in the broad Ennis Eircode area and the remainder are in parts of the county that fall under the Galway and Limerick routing keys.
