Harty Confident In Screening Programmes As Report Reveals Scope Of Outsourcing

Clare’s Independent TD insists we can still have faith in Ireland’s cancer screening programmes, despite the stark findings of the latest Scally report.

Dr Gabriel Scally’s analysis of the CervicalCheck controversy has found that the number of US labs involved in the screening was 16 and not the six originally estimated.

Over 300,000 slides were sent to the Texas-based CPL Labs between 2010 and 2013, with a significant amount outsourced – however, the report has found no evidence that the outsourced labs were providing inadequate services.
