“More Clarity Needed” On Health Minister’s Extra Beds Announcement

A Clare member of the HSE’s Regional Health Forum West is calling for more clarity from the Health Minister on plans to open 15 extra beds in the Midwest hospital network.

Simon Harris has announced that the beds are among 190 nationally that are being opened across Irish hospitals but admitted that it is “inexcusable” that they have remained closed until now.

In addition, the Minister has reduced the fee for injury units, such as that in Ennis General Hospital, from €100 to €75, in an effort to encourage use of those where appropriate.
