Almost A Dozen Midwest Children Waiting A Year For Mental Health Appointments

Almost a dozen children in the Midwest have been waiting over a year for an appointment with the mental health service.

Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act, show there are more than 140 children in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary on the waiting list for the HSE’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.

Of those, 102 are waiting up to six months for an appointment, and 11 over one year.

The figures are among the highest in the country, apart from Cork, Kerry, Cavan and Monaghan and this is despite the fact that there are currently no vacant consultant posts in the Midwest.
