Govt Support To Mitigate Brexit Impact On Shannon To Be Considered

The Transport Minister has been encouraged to consider a strategic route development fund to help Shannon Airport mitigate the impact of Brexit.

The proposal comes amid ongoing uncertainty over Britain’s relationship with the EU, and Shannon’s current lack of a direct service to a mainland European hub such as Paris, Amsterdam or Frankfurt.

Its only hub connection is with Heathrow, and if this remains then there are fears this could be a hit to tourism and business locally.
