First Female University President Appointed At UL

The University of Limerick has announced the appointment of its new President.

Dr Kerstin Mey will take over the role from September 1st, replacing the soon-to-retire Dr Des Fitzgerald, and will fill the role on an interim basis while a permanent replacement is fond.

Minister for Higher Education, Simon Harris, welcomed the appointment, highlighting its historic nature, as Dr. Mey has become the first woman to serve as the President of an Irish University.
