Four Assisted To Safety After Boat Pushed Onto Rocks

Four people have been assisted to safety after their 23 foot cruiser suffered engine failure and got swept onto rocks in Lough Derg.

Lough Derg RNLI and the Irish coast Guard Helicopter, Rescue 115 were dispatched at around 9 o’clock last night, after the boat, which had its anchor depoyed, was pushed onto rocks behind Holy Island in Scariff Bay.

Visibility was poor but crew managed to locate the vessel and Rescue 115 was stood down.

Two adults and two teenagers on board were found to be safe and unharmed, and wearing their lifejackets. Crew subsequently examined the boat before towing it back to Mountshannon Harbour.
