Eircom has announced a 100 million euro plan – to roll out fibre-based broadband across the country.

The company is planning on having the super-fast service installed in 100-thousand homes and businesses by summer of next year.
It’s phase one of a longer term plan that aims to provide fibre-based services to a million premises.
In addition to the broadband plan, the company’s announced it will launch a range of entertainment features through the network.
TV through broadband, video on demand, catch-up TV and social media via TV are all in the works, and expected to be available to customers from the middle of next year.
