Development agency to work to minimise further Clare job losses

 

Shannon Development says it will work with local management and parent companies in an effort to minimise the impact of yesterday’s double jobs blow in Clare,

Medical journal publishers  Elsevier are to effectively close their Shannon operation by making 100 of it’s 108 staff redundant over a three year period.

While Shannon Aerospace confirmed it was reducing its workforce by 107 – blaming "high and unsustainable costs".

Shannon Development says its understands the challenging conditions faced by companies in the region and will work closely with them to identify new higher value added activity.

Meanwhile Clare Fianna Fail Deputy Dooley is confident that the government is doing all it can to create employment in the country – particularly for those affected by yesterday’s announcements
