Council planners have just under three weeks to make a decision on a controversial motorway plaza on the outskirts of Ennis.

193 submissions have been recevied by the council relating to plans lodged by Supermacs owner Pat McDonagh last month for a ten million euro Brack Obama style plaza on the M18 at Skehanagh.

The vast majority of those are in favour of the development, but there have been a number of objections from sources including the Ennis business community, a local landowner, and the operators of a service station chain.

Ennis Fine Gael Coucnillor Johnny Flynn, who is a Civil Engineer and Former Fire Chief, has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that he expects the development to be given the go-ahead, but he says he’ll appeal if that’s the case.
