Warning For Isolated Elderly People With Spike In Financial Abuse

The Shannon-based President of Active Retirement Ireland is warning isolated elderly people to be vigilant of falling victim to financial abuse.

A survey conducted by Red C on behalf of the Banking and Payments Federation of Ireland has found that 20% of adults have reported experiencing this type of crime.

It refers specifically to someone taking or misusing someone else’s money or belongings for their own gain and can even come from a family member.
