Ennis Childcare Provider Among Thousands Protesting In Capital Amid Funding “Crisis”

An Ennis childcare provider is calling for an umbrella group to be established to represent their sector, to ensure that they are being funded fairly.

Hazel O’Connor is among thousands of people, who have been attending a march in Dublin today, protesting at the lack of government funding in the childcare sector.

The Early Years Alliance says high fees and low pay has reached crisis point and around 1,700 creches nationwide have closed today to protest the issues facing their businesses.

Hazel O’Connor, who’s the owner of Room to Bloom Kids Care in Ennis, who’s attending today’s protest, has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that everyone needs to be singing from the same hymn sheet to make any meaningful difference.
