Clare has had one of the lowest levels of burglaries in the country over the past decade.

New research from home monitoring company PhoneWatch has found that there were 3,480 burglaries in the banner county between 2009 and 2018.

Only Sligo, Leitrim, Mayo and Kerry recorded lower numbers of break-ins, while Dublin recorded the highest number in the country.

Managing Director of PhoneWatch Eoin Dunne says the study found that one in every five properties across the country have been targeted in the last decade, but that there has been a reduction in burglaries in recent years.
