Confidence Expressed In Shannon Free Zone’s Economic Viability

Confidence is being expressed in the future of the Shannon Free Zone as a key attraction for US companies looking for a base in Ireland.

US medical equipment firm Edward Lifesciences has chosen to build its permanent manufacturing facility in Castletroy in Limerick, despite basing its initial Irish headquarters in Shannon.

It will see 600 jobs come on stream by 2021, a move which is being hailed as hugely significant for the MidWest region.

CEO of Shannon Chamber Helen Downes says there is plenty of scope for expansion in Shannon too.
