Concerns Raised Over Chemotherapy Drug Monopoly

A Tulla-based oncology nurse is expressing concern that one firm has the “monopoly” of chemotherapy drugs in Ireland.

It’s after the sole supplier of the drug here, Baxter Healthcare, ran short of the drug this week.

The HSE says it’s a temporary reduction in supply and patients will be accommodated in other hospitals if their own facility is affected.

Oncology nurse and cancer survivor Anne Murphy says it’s causing unnecessary worry for patients.
