The organisers of the historic Spancilhill Fair say the COVID-10 pandemic left them with no option but to cancel the event, for just the second time in its history.
The first charter for the iconic event was granted by King Charles over almost 400 years ago and it has gone ahead without fail almost every year since.
The exception is 2001, and the foot and mouth outbreak, but it now won’t go ahead this year either owing to the pandemic.
PRO for the Spancilhill Fair Committee is Paddy Hassett.
It’s hoped the Spancilhill Fair will run again in 2021.
Committee member Pat Hannon says there’s tremendous tradition associated with the Spancilhill Fair.
