Communications Minister “Too Late To The Table” With Online Safety Laws – Dooley

Clare’s Fianna Fáil TD has accused the Communications Minister of “coming to the table far too late” with new laws aimed at improving online safety.

Richard Bruton has announced details of a new Online Safety Commissioner to improve cyber safety, which will have the power to fine companies like Facebook and Instagram and force them to take down harmful content.

The regulator will also decide if a firm’s safety standards are good enough.
