Clare’s most senior Garda is appealing to family members who are being intimidated over relatives’ drug debts to come forward for help.

Garda Chief Superintendent John Kerin says that pressure on the families of drug users was widespread across the county and that the situation was ‘horrific’.

His comments come as Clare’s Joint Policing Committee was told that a total of 71 drug offences were detected in the first three months of 2018 – a drop of 17 on the same period last year.
