Clare’s Fire Chief Says Service Is Still Being Invested In

Clare’s county fire chief insists the fire service in this county continues to be invested in.

Concern has been expressed that poor pay is driving members out of the service after it emerged 22 have left posts in Clare in the past three years.

€2.2 million was paid out in wages to fire fighters last year – down from €2.5 million in 2010 – while the number of fire callouts dropped from 850 to 398 in that period.
