Clare GAA Community Rallies Around Ger Loughnane

Leading GAA figures have offered their support to Clare Hurling legend Ger Loughnane as he receives treatment for cancer.

It’s understood the 57 year old former Clare Manager from Feakle was diagnosed with leukaemia two weeks ago and is currently undergoing intensive treatment at St James’s Hospital in Dublin.

Ger Loughnane is respected nationally as one of Ireland’s leading Hurling figures winning two All Star Awards for Clare before leading the Clare team to their first All Ireland Hurling title in 81 years in 1995 and repeating that success in 1997,

He’s also the principal of St Aidan’s National School in Shannon and is well known as one of the country’s top Hurling analysts on television, radio and in the print media.
