Clare Firms Warned Of Increase In Hacking Attempts

A Clarecastle-based IT security expert is warning of an increase in the number of hacking attempts on companies in Clare.

Edel Mee says auctioneers, solicitors and accountants are being targeted by the sophisticated operations.

It involves an email being sent from the victim’s account to a client, asking for money to be transferred to the hacker’s bank account.

Edel says many local businesses have been caught out by the scam.
