€2.5m Announced For Clare County Council To Compensate For Loss Of Moneypoint Rates

2.5 million euro in funding has been announced for Clare County Council to compensate against a loss of rates revenue from Moneypoint Power Station.

The local authority was facing a funding shortfall of almost three million euro as a result of a revaluation of Moneypoint, a shortfall which could have forced it to cut services.

Now, however, the Minister for Local Government and Planning has confirmed that a significant portion of the losses will be offset by central government.
