Clare Council deny holding up rollout of Breastcheck

Clare County Council’s refuting claims by the Health Department that it’s responsible for the long delays in the roll-out of Breastcheck in the county.

Speaking on behalf of the Health Minister in the Dáil this week Junior Minister Aíne Brady said the service will now be established in Clare this autumn and stated that the delay was due to Clare County Council seeking planning permission for the unit.

She added that it was the only local authority to do so but had now waived this so the service could be rolled out and that a suitable site has now been selected in the grounds of the county council offices in Ennis.
