Claims Drop In Cost Of Renting In Clare Will Be Short-Lived

It’s feared a drop in the cost of renting in Clare will be short-lived.

The latest figures from the Residential Tenancies Board shows rental costs in the county have fallen slightly from €663 per month in the third quarter of last year to €654 between October and December.

But the figure still represents an almost 7% rise on the same period in 2016.

Shannon was the most expensive area to live in, with tenants paying €754 on average, followed by Ennis at €694, and in West Clare the average cost is €584 per month.

Ennis Estate Agent Cormac O’Sullivan of DNG O’Sullivan Hurley has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that with more and more landlords exiting the market, the prices are all but guaranteed to rise again.
