Carey appointed Deputy Chief Whip

 

Clare Government representative Joe Carey’s received a Dáil promotion.

The Clarecastle Deputy has been appointed as the Assistant Government Chief Whip by the Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the role will see him deputising for Minister Paul Kehoe as well as liaising with cabinet members on a daily basis.

The Fine Gael TD has also been appointed to sit on one of the 11 Dáil committees established by Enda Kenny this week- Procedure and Privileges-

Meanwhile, his fellow government representative in the county Pat Breen is also set to take up a prominent new role as chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee.

Clare’s other TDs Labour’s Michael McNamara and Fianna Fáil’s Timmy Dooley have also been appointed to sit on committees

Deputy Michael McNamara joins Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture as well as Foreign Affairs and Trade.

And Fianna Faíl’s  Timmy Dooley ,  takes up posts in European Union Affairs  and Environment, Transport, Culture and the Gaeltacht.
