Cahercalla’s Reputation Has “Suffered Substiantially” Harty Admits But Says Situation Has Turned Around

The Chair of the Board of Cahercalla Community Hospital and Hospice admits the reputation of the Ennis facility has suffered substantially, on account of problems experienced there earlier this year.

A HIQA report published on Friday, following an unannouned inspection during an outbreak of covid-19 in January, found the nursing home to be non-compliant in all areas it was assessed in.

Dr Michael Harty says the Board fully accepts the findings of the report, but that the inspection took place at a time when Cahercalla was at its lowest ebb, dealing with a confluence of problems.
