The next Bishop of Killaloe is expected to be made known today.
Pope Benedict will announce a replacement for Doctor Willie Walsh in Rome at 11 o’clock this morning.
Bishop Walsh tendered is resignation to the Vatican in January, having turned the mandatory retirement age of 75, following 15 years as head of the Diocese which covers parts of Counties Clare, Tipperary and Offaly.
