Beef Plan Movement Slams Claims That Farming Is Not In Crisis

A suggestion by an East Clare councillor that the crisis facing the beef sector is exaggerated has been strongly condemned by a grassroots farming group.

Mountshannon Fine Gael Councillor Pat Burke told last month’s meeting of Clare County Council that the suggestion that the sector was struggling was inaccurate.

That led to strong disagreement in the council chambers and has angered the Beef Plan Movement, which has been campaigning for sustainable incomes for suckler farmers since its establishment late last year.
