Backbench TDs Express Aer Lingus Sale Concerns

Reports today say growing unease among government TDs is putting the sale of Aer Lingus in jeopardy.

The Irish Independent reports that there has been strong opposition to the proposed sale from Fine Gael and Labour backbenchers, particularly from the Shannon region and also Cork and Dublin.

The reports come after a number of interest groups outlined their concerns to an Oireachtas Committee last evening, including Shannon Chamber of Commerce and Shannon Group.

Both bodies outlined the importance of Aer Lingus’ flights to Heathrow for employment in the region.
