Clare’s Independent TD remains confident that the Transport Minister will visit Shannon Airport soon, despite missing his own deadline to do so.
Shane Ross committed to coming to the Midwest facility to speak to management there before the end of September but that has come and gone with no sign of a visit.
Serious concern has been expressed from a number of quarters in recent months about falling passenger numbers and lost routes at Shannon.

Dr Michael Harty, who recently received an admission from Taoiseach Leo Varadkar that the government must do more to assist Shannon, is confident the Minister will arrive at the airport sooner rather than later:
