€100M Beef Aid Package Will “Help Farmers Pay Off Debts”

Clare’s IFA Livestock Chair says a €100 million Brexit aid package for Irish farmers will help them pay off the debts they’ve built up since mart prices plummeted.

The European Commission has committed to a €50 million deal, which it’s hoped will be matched by the Irish government, to help farmers who have been grappling with poor prices since last year.

The Irish Farmers Association says beef farmers have suffered “savage” losses because of Brexit, while farming groups across the board have been calling for a beef package to be rolled out for months now.
