Agreement Signed For Extended US Pre-Clearance At Shannon Airport

Shannon Airport has received a welcome boost with the extension of pre-clearance facilities for US-bound passengers.

The US Customs and Border Protection and the Irish government have signed an amended agreement allowing for the move, which will also extend the service in Dublin.

It will see longer service hours and increased staffing, cost recovery, and improved officer safety measures.

Ten years ago, Shannon became the first airport outside of the Americas to secure the service and last year alone, 1.7 million passengers availed of it.
