Gardaí in Carlow have seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of 200-thousand euro.
Emergency services attended a fire at a house in Rathvilly this morning where Gardaí discovered a grow house with 250 cannabis plants.
A man in his 70s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Carlow Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
A second man’s being sought after escaping through the rear of the property and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
This is the second discovery of cannabis plants in the Carlow area in recent days – a combined value of €560,000 worth of plants have been seized.
