The Government is being urged to ensure the Mid-West is developed into a highly competitive region under the new National Framework Plan.

The call from IBEC comes after a public consultation process which called for the imbalance in regional development to be addressed.

Areas such as transport infrastructure, broadband and employment opportunities have all been identified as central areas for improvement.

IBEC Regional Director for Mid-West Mairead Crosby says the area has plenty to offer if the correct steps are taken.
