Complete And Vacant Houses Included On Clare’s Unfinished Housing List

New figures from the Department of Local Government show there are 78 complete and vacant homes in Clare’s unfinished housing developments.

But recommendations have been made for a number of houses in one development in Ennis to be demolished.

The Department of Local Government has surveyed 15 sites, with a combined total of over 1,100 homes, and found that 518 of these are complete and occupied.

Construction is ongoing for another 253, while planning has expired for the remainder.

The report said the “only option” for a small number of schemes was demolition with the demolition of 69 units in two housing estates; one of those being the Aishling development in Ennis, where 24 units in three apartment buildings.

Sites in Ennis, Mountshannon, Sixmilebridge, Lahinch, Clarecastle, Shannon, Kilkishen, Westbury and Tuamgraney were surveyed.
