The Clare Branch of St Vincent DePaul says the announcement of increased supports for disadvantaged students is a step in the right direction.
The Department of Education this week announced a series of supports such as bursaries of up to €5,000 for students who are coming from disadvantaged areas.
It’s thought that as few as 16 per cent of students from poorer areas continue to higher level education.
