Over 350 people are working in the Clare Garda Division.

Figures released to the Dáil by Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan show ten other Garda Divisions have fewer Gardaí than in this county, but the low number of Garda Reserves here remains.

Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan has revealed that, as of the end of May, there were 314 Gardaí working in Clare.

This is less than the likes of Cork North and Mayo, but more than other areas including Roscommon and Longford, Wicklow, Louth and Wexford.

That’s despite a number of questions in recent years as to manpower levels in Clare.

Of the 314 Gardaí here, 8 are Community officers and they are backed up by six reserve Gardaí, which is the lowest number of anywhere in the country.

The force is backed up by a total of 31 civilian staff. 21 of those are based in Ennis, four in Ennistymon, three in Kilrush, two each in Shannon and Killaloe and one more in Scarif.
