Wednesday’s edition of Morning Focus heard about plans to test ‘river turbines’ in the Shannon Estuary for renewable energy production.

Roisin McCormack, sales & marketing manager at DesignPro LTD in Rathkeale, joined Gavin ahead of a public information meeting on the project in Kildysart on Tuesday, March 13.

To start the show, Clare FM’s James Mulhall spoke to Dr Michael Harty, Independent TD for Clare, about the Department of Justice’s promises to provide additional service in Lisdoonvarna ahead of the new direct provision centre.

Following that, Gavin talked to former County Councillor Sean McLoughlin about the calls being made for Northern Ireland to vote on Brexit.

Then, Paddy Dunne of Lisdoonvarna Fáílte spoke to Gavin about why the community will call for a cap of 30 on the number of asylum seekers to be accommodated at the local King Thomond Hotel.

Later, Sarah Clancy from Clare PPN joined Gavin on the show to discuss the wider issue of direct provision.

Next, Gavin chatted with Jonathon Power, fundraising manager at ABI Ireland, about brain awareness weeks and the events happening in Clare. After that, Colette Sexton, a native of Mullagh and news correspondent at the Sunday Business Post, joined Gavin on the show to discuss whether or not women with engagement or wedding rings are less likely to be employed.

Then, Gavin spoke with Cáit Noone from GMIT’s International Hotel School, about the lack of chefs in Ireland and how it impacts Irish restaurants.

Next, Brid Hannify from the Ennistymon GAA club came onto the show to speak to Gavin about the fundraising fashion show they will be hosting at the Falls Hotel on Friday night (March 9th).

Following that, Gavin chatted with Paul Edison of Kilrush Tidy Towns about the continuation and on-going success of the ‘One Tree Per Child’ project in the region.

To round off the show, Gavin hosted the ‘Ask the Vet’ segment with John Underhill of Burren Vets, Ennistymon.
