As debate continues over illegal dumping at a site in Ennis, Gavin was joined by Cllr Clare Colleran Molloy, an FF member of Clare County Council, who’s calling for a tougher line to be taken on dumping at unauthorised Traveller encampments. Morning Focus opened by asking if Catholic priests are ‘earning’ enough from Parish collections.
It followed reports that a priest in Kerry decided to write to parishioners who failed to contribute to their ‘dues’. Gavin was joined in studio by Fr Brendan Quinlivan of Clare FM’s ‘Beyond Belief’ and Communication Spokesperson for the Diocese of Killaloe.

Funding third-level education was the next topic for discussion. Gavin spoke with Founding President of the University of Limerick, Dr Ed Walsh who believes in a ‘study now, pay later’ model.
There’ve been concerns in the village of Crusheen lately over vandalism which has forced the local playground to shut. Gavin was joined on the line by Catherine Downes of the Crusheen Playground Committee.

An innovative new service is being piloted in a rural post office in Kildare, with the potential to roll it out nationwide. Gavin heard more from Mary O’Brien, the CEO of VideoDoc.

Gavin’s next guest was Brian O’Donoghue, Principal of the Ennis Community College. The school has adopted a revolutionary way of teaching through the Logged-On project. The scheme promotes the use of technology to direct students learning at their own pace which then frees up classroom time for more practical work. Listen back below:
