Monday is Sports Panel day on Morning Focus. Bríd McNamara, Munster Camogie PRO, joined Derrick Lynch in studio for a chat about the weekend’s action. Listen back below:

The show opened with a discussion about home ownership patterns, as revealed by the latest data from the CSO. Gavin was joined by Dr Lorcan Sirr of the Dublin Institute of Technology.

Michael McNamara was Gavin’s next guest. The former TD for Clare discussed the Labour Party conference which took place at the weekend.

Gavin then spoke to Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People, Helen McEntee. The Junior Minister was in the region today to launch Connecting for Life in the Midwest, a regional suicide prevention programme; as well as the opening of the new Brian Ború suite at Raheen Community Nursing Unit. Minister McEntee also announced funding for day care services at Cuan an Chláir.

Ennis woman, Emer O’Flaherty, has just won the hugely prestigious International Pan Celtic Song Contest and she told Gavin she was delighted with the honour. Listen back below:

This was followed up with a chat with Michael Fitzsimons who works on the Wild Atlantic Way for Fáilte Ireland. He told Gavin that Loop Head Lighthouse will feature in a festival celebrating Ireland’s great lighthouses.

A regional skills expo for the Midwest takes place this weekend at UL (Fri. & Sat., April 28 & 29) and Gavin had a special preview of the event from its manager, Joe Leddin.

Clare Garden Festival takes place next Sunday (April 30) and, ahead of this hugely popular event, Gavin was joined in studio by manager Carmen Cronin and Chairperson of Clare Agricultural Show, Joe Lillis. Listen back below:
