Friday’s Morning Focus featured a special discussion about 20 years of the West Clare Mini Marathon and the services of the Cancer Centre.

The show opened with a discussion with Cllr Alan O’Callaghan (FF) who says locals in south and east Clare are frustrated over a series of water main bursts which lead to outages in recent days.

Then, Gavin spoke with Ennis-native Dr Micheál Collins of UCD about new figures on economic growth, released by the Central Bank, and recent ESRI research warning of the impact of the imbalance between the east and west of the country.

After that, Ennistymon farmer Tom Clair was Gavin’s guest and he told listeners about making his case at the European Parliament Petitions Committee over the loss he suffered when refused tags for his cattle in the early 2000s.

Siobhán Mulcahy, Clare County Arts Office was in studio with her weekly arts round-up.

Then Rita McInerney, Chairperson of the West Clare Drama Festival Committee spoke about the fundraising ‘Dramatic Draw’, taking place at the Igoe Inn on Saturday night (Jan 27).
