Today on Morning Focus Gavin was joined by Tony Killeen, Former Clare FF Minister, TD, Gabriella Hanrahan, Community Liaison Officer with the University of Limerick and John Considine, Former member of Hull City Council for this week’s Friday Panel.

This week our panel led a Brexit dominated discussion as they referred to the latest news with regards to a new deal and gave their views and opinions on Brexit as a whole.

Frank Minogue and John O’Reidy of St. Joseph’s Miltown Malbay and Martin Lynch and John Daly of Kilmurry Ibrickane joined Gavin in studio ahead of the weekend as St. Joseph’s Miltown Malbay face Kilmurry Ibrickane this Sunday in the 2019 Clare SFC Final.

Next on the show, Diarmuid Whelan, tutor with LCETB, joined Gavin on the line ahead of a celebration of learning following the successful conclusion of a pilot course in Maritime running at Kilrush Campus and Kilrush Marina over the past year. The course was developed by LCETB and tutor Diarmuid Whelan ran it last year under the Active Inclusion Support Service to target unemployment in West Clare and deliver a qualified pipeline of people needed right now in the maritime industry.

Also, Diarmuid mentioned another round of the course kicks off from the end of this month and will run one day a week, specifically this time for people who are employed and want to upskill for a career in maritime.

On the show today as well as discussing Brexit with our Friday Panel, Dep Joe Carey, Clare FG TD, Member of British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly joined us on the line as EU leaders have approved Boris Johnson’s new Brexit deal.

However, UK Labour, the SNP, the Lib Dems and the DUP all say they oppose this new deal.

The British Prime Minister still faces the prospect of having to ask for a Brexit delay if he doesn’t win Saturday’s Commons vote.

To round up today’s Morning Focus Gavin was joined in studio by Clare Foley, Producer, Stephen Birmingham, Actor and Pam Blake, Actress ahead of their production of ‘Plaza Suite’. The story is set in Suite 719 of New York’s Plaza Hotel, over three acts we witness three different comedy-dramas unfold in the luxury suite. An anniversary celebration is not what it seems, a Hollywood producer sets out to seduce an old flame, and a family unravels as they prepare to walk their only daughter down the aisle. The play will be staged at Corofin Hall on October 19-21 (Saturday-Monday).
