The Afternoon Show – Monday November 18th 2013

Joining Máire on today’s edition of the Afternoon Show were members of Clare’s Comhairle na nOg – Roisin Carey, from Kilmurry and a 1st year student at St. Caimin’s in Shannon, Siofra Connolly from Newmarket on Fergus, a  3rd year at St. Caimin’s and Uisce Hammond from Feakle who is in 1st year at Alfa Secondary School in Tuamgraney. Clare Comhairle na nÓg is part of a national initiative from the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs (OMCYA). Comhairle aims to provide an opportunity for young people in the 12 to 18 age range to identify the issues that are important to them, discuss some of the changes they would like to see and bring forward ideas and suggestions for bringing about change.

 

Philip Moreau – our Gardening Expert and Horticulturist from Glenbrook Nurseries in Tuamgraney also told us what to do and what not to do in the garden. He talked about water drainage, mushrooms, cyclamens, protecting plants from frost and ice, and answered all of your queries.

Allen Flynn and Eddie McCourt from the Ennis Players also joined Máire in studio to talk about the annual supper theatre programme. The Ennis Players are delighted to present their annual  ‘Supper Theatre’ at the Old Ground Hotel, Ennis, from Monday, November 18th through to Thursday, November 21st, 2013. Steve Mathison from The Courthouse Gallery in Ennistymon also gave a call out to local artists as Trasna IV – the exhibition is close to being launched. If anyone out there is still interested in submitting an A5 sized artwork or if you know of an artist who would like to submit to Trasna IV please encourage them to do so as the deadline for submissions is this Friday – November 22nd. Submissions should be unframed and a maximum postcard size of 20 x 15 cm (A5) in any medium. Or sculptural / 3D pieces in any medium of no more then 20 x 20 x 20 cm.
