For ten years, Jim O’Driscoll filled his garden with Christmas lights, snowmen and reindeer and invited families to come and see them
In return he would ask for a small donation towards a charity
Among the other charities he raised money for were Crumlin Children’s Hospital,  Cahercalla Hospice and the Clare Sunset Foundation
Jim had originally planned to raise money for Diabetes Ireland with his Christmas lights  in December 2010 but sadly he took ill before it could become a reality
Because of this, Jim’s wife, Ann is dedicating the lights to his memory this year.
John spoke with Ann O’Driscoll, Wife of the late Jim and Grainne Flynn of the Clare Branch, Diabetes Ireland
The official switching on of Jim’s Christmas Lights will take place on Thursday at 75 Elm Park, Gort Road, Ennis at 5:30pm.

This year’s Light up a Memory ceremony takes place on Sunday at 6p.m. on the grounds of Milford Care Centre.
