Ongoing Dumping A “Blight” On Shannon Community

The ongoing issue of illegal dumping in parts of Shannon has been described as a “blight” on the local community.

As part of National Spring Clean month, Shannon Tidy Towns volunteers together with 31 members of the MCGI CARES Group from Shannon, Limerick, Galway and Dublin held a clean-up event, with support from the Shannon Municipal District.

102 bags of rubbish were collected in the Tullyvarraga Hill, Rossbracken, Smithstown, and Drumgeely areas on Sunday.

80 of these bags were filled in the Tullyvarraga Hill area alone and Chair of Shannon Tidy Towns, Derek Clune has been telling Clare FM’s Morning Focus it’s a disgrace that some people think they can use the area as a dumping ground.
