No grants to assist in the cost of septic tank repairs have been awarded to Clare homeowners over the past year.
That’s despite the Minister for Local Government, Darragh O’Brien, revealing 112 such grants were awarded throughout the country in that time.
The grants are made available to homeowners have to repair or replace their setic tanks, and a revised grant scheme was introduced last summer.

In 2019, the most recent year for which data is available, 59% of 41 septic tanks in Clare were found to have not met minimum standards, although problems in 84% of those were rectified by last April.
